Malaysia international school fees — the 2026 report

What Malaysia’s international schools actually publish about their fees: how many publish at all, what the published figures look like, and where the gaps are. Every figure below is computed from the schools’ own published schedules, collected 9 October 2026.

The transparency gap

Of 230 open international schools, 96 (42%) publish a fee schedule we could verify from the school itself. The other 134 publish no verifiable schedule — their pages here say “not published” rather than carrying an estimate. Chinese independent schools publish even less often: 19 of 63.

Some schools print their schedule only as an image or a printed notice. We record those as not verified rather than transcribing figures we cannot check — several well-known schools are [NV] here for exactly that reason.

The published market, in numbers

Across the 90 international schools with a computable annual figure, published annual tuition runs from RM6,000 to RM142,000, with a median school midpoint of RM33,026. These are cross-sectional figures — a snapshot of what schools publish in October 2026 — not a measure of how fees have changed over time. Where a school publishes per-term or per-semester fees, the annual figure is its own per-period fee multiplied by its own number of periods per year.

A school can belong to more than one family (for example British curriculum with an IB Diploma), so family counts overlap.

Two prices for the same seat

Many Malaysian schools publish one price for Malaysian students and another for international students. 7 schools publish separate Malaysian and international tables where both can be compared like-for-like: the international midpoint runs from 0% to 25% above the Malaysian one, a median of 22%. Both prices are shown on every such school’s page.

How schools bill

Of the open international schools: 68 bill over 3 terms a year, 15 over 2 semesters, 7 over 4 terms, and the rest publish annual figures or per-period figures without a stated period count. Any comparison that silently converts a per-term fee into an annual one is inventing data — our school pages always show the school’s own basis.
