How CredRadar counts schools, where every figure comes from, and how to correct us. Data compiled and checked 2026-10-06.

Counting

Why the totals differ

There is no single official number of "international schools in Thailand" — each register counts something different. We publish our reconciliation instead of picking the biggest number.

249Licensed international schools (Thai MOE/OPEC, 2024), as cited in SISB equity research using ministry data. The current full OPEC register is not public — the public copy dates from June 2016 (166 schools).
207Entries in the ISAT (International Schools Association of Thailand) member directory, counted live on 2026-10-06. Counted per campus and includes standalone kindergartens.
199Listings in the International Schools Database (third-party aggregator) for Thailand.
180+Premium English-medium schools in ISC Research's count (via WhichSchoolAdvisor), with 60,000+ students — a narrower definition than licensing.
271School/campus records in CredRadar's master dataset (main table), each with region, grades, curriculum, accreditation notes and a source-labelled fee or an explicit "not verified" flag.
189Open listings published on this site. 4 dataset rows are editorial notes inside the master table (cross-references and "no school found" records), not schools, so they are not published as listings. A further 3 schools in the dataset have closed: their pages are kept as clearly labelled archive records (no enquiry form, no shortlist) and are not counted as listings. Duplicate records for the same school (a school listed under two names, or a section pointer row) are merged into a single listing. A further register of kindergarten-only schools is held in the dataset as names only and will be published separately.
AuditIn October 2026 we cross-checked our Bangkok Metropolitan coverage against the International Schools Database's Bangkok list (104 entries) and the ISAT directory: 22 schools were added or split out into their own verified rows, and published-fee data was completed for 3 more existing rows. Names that could not be verified in two independent sources were deliberately left out rather than padded in.

Labels

Fee source labels

[O] OfficialThe figure was captured from the school's own website or official fee PDF in our 2026-10-06 pass.
[A] AggregatorThe figure comes from a third-party aggregator (International Schools Database, Edarabia, WhichSchoolAdvisor, Prestige). Useful for comparison — never quote it to a school as its own published fee without checking the school's current document.
[NV] Not verifiedNo reliable public figure could be verified (fees not published, enquiry-only, not yet announced, or a found figure was discarded as unreliable). We show this label rather than a guessed number.

In our 2026-10-06 pass, roughly one third of schools publish a complete fee table, one third publish partial or "from" prices, and one third require an enquiry. Of the listings on this site, 111 carry [O] official fees.

Process

Verification process

Collect

Registers (ISAT, MOE/OPEC via research), school websites and fee PDFs, IB/CIS/WASC/NEASC directories, and reputable aggregators as a cross-check only.

Label

Every fee keeps its source label and the raw published wording, so a reader can audit any figure back to its origin.

Correct

Aggregator errors are discarded, not averaged. Where an aggregator shows only an outdated single "average" for a school, we replace it with the per-grade range for the current academic year or mark the school [NV] — we never blend the two. Every correction is noted on the school page itself, with the date it was made.

Map data

Map, surroundings & drive times

School coordinates come from Google Places. The "What's around" distances on school pages are computed from OpenStreetMap data (Geofabrik Thailand extract, 2026-10-06; © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL): the nearest named hospital, park, shopping mall and playground within 10 km, as straight-line distances. Drive times in the commute finder are OSRM routing estimates on the same OpenStreetMap data (routing.openstreetmap.de), computed at build time under free-flow conditions — no live traffic.

Air quality

Smog-season PM2.5

City hub pages show a smog-season PM2.5 figure computed from OpenAQ data: daily aggregates from the Thailand Pollution Control Department's (Air4Thai) government reference monitors within 25 km of the centre of each city's school cluster. The figure is the mean of all station-days from 1 January to 31 March, pooled across the seasons actually used — drawn from 2024, 2025 and 2026, and stated on the hub page itself. A city is only shown when at least two of the three seasons are present and every season used contributes at least 30 station-days. Data fetched from api.openaq.org on 2026-10-06.

Corrections

Corrections policy & limits

Schools and parents can submit corrections via the claim form; verified corrections are published with a note on the school page. The full policy — response times, how conflicting sources are shown, and a school's right of reply — is on our corrections & right-of-reply page. Known limits of the current dataset: enrolment and student–teacher ratios are published by fewer than 20% of schools and are left blank elsewhere; Chinese school names are not systematically published and are not invented; a small number of schools in the 2016 OPEC register could not be confirmed as still operating and are flagged rather than silently dropped. Fees change annually (typically +3–5%): always confirm the current schedule with the school.
